Turning down the heat. A report on a programme approach to supporting micro and SME food businesses in their net-zero journey.

Details

Small and micro businesses in the food sector play a critical role in the sustainability of our food systems. But with limited resources, how can we support them on the journey to net-zero?

This report outlines the key learnings and outcomes of delivering targeted place-based investment to improve environmental sustainability and drive economic growth.

Growing Green is a sustainability grant and training programme to support horticultural and plant-based food and drink businesses to move to net-zero. It was conceived in recognition of the specific barriers and opportunities facing micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the sector to invest in sustainability initiatives.

The experience gained from Growing Green highlights the importance of tailoring training and financial support to meet the needs of the intended recipients to create the biggest impact on net zero targets and economic growth.
