Report: Why a systems-thinking approach is needed to boost skills, create high-value jobs, and attract talent in our food system
Details
A healthy food system is vital to ensuring we have a resilient supply chain and communities have access to affordable, sustainable, and nutritious food. For the food system to thrive, it needs to innovate and incorporate new technical and scientific advances. But it can only do so with the right talent and skills. Recruiting and retaining talent across the food value chain is challenging for many complex reasons, including national-level immigration policies, poor brand perceptions of careers, and a lack of suitable training opportunities.
In this report, Growing Kent & Medway Director, Simon Barnes, argues for a system-based approach, aligning the triple helix of educators, regional and local government, and industry, working together to create a productive, skilled, and well-resourced workforce.
