Deep Planet: AI-Powered Disease Detection for UK Vineyards

This case study explores how Deep Planet, an Oxford University spin-out, is revolutionising disease management in UK vineyards through AI and satellite technology. Co-founder and CEO Sushma Shankar explains how their collaboration with Dr Belinda Kemp, Group Leader for Viticulture and Oenology Research at Niab East Malling, has accelerated their technology development.

Supported by our Prototyping and Demonstrator Fund and access to the Wine Innovation Centre, Deep Planet has created a precision viticulture solution that helps growers identify disease patterns, optimise harvesting, and improve crop quality-bringing their technology to market in under a year. Watch the video to see how this partnership is supporting the rapidly growing UK wine industry.
